Effect of High Fat Diet on Body Weight, Visceral Fat Weight, and PPARG Expressions on Visceral Fat in Mice

Obesity becomes a global epidemic nowadays. The high-fat diet is used as an alternative therapy for obesity. optimal composition of to reduce body weight still unknown. This study aimed determine which components can decrease weight, visceral fat, and PPARG expression fat. was conducted at the Faculty Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, three months by using randomized post-test only control group design. Fifty male mice, 2-3 old, 18-30 grams were adapted one week given standard AIN93-M, then mice divided into five groups, namely K1 (control group, 12% 20% protein, 62% carbs); K2 (30% 60% proteins, 0% K3 (45% 45% K4 (60% 30% K5 (75% 15% carbs). Bodyweight measured before after treatment, fat expressions evaluated. Statistical comparisons performed Package Social Sciences (SPSS) software. After there forty-three mice. with decreased. most significant changes in -9,60 ± 3,806 reduction. bodyweight K5, slightly increased than K2-K4. could be caused hormesis phenomenon. decreased groups but K5.
